Mindfulness Quotes.Winnie the Pooh

Mindfulness quotes.Winnie the Pooh.

Winnie the Pooh quotes have become so well known and are often quoted by people in all walks of life. It is not surprising really,as these quotes often show great insight and a compassionate understanding of the human condition. Take this quote for instance: “What day is it?”asked Pooh. “Today”,squeeked Piglet.”My favourite day” said Pooh. The author A.A. Milne is simply telling his readers to live in the present and to enjoy every day as it comes. This is sometimes referred to as mindfulness.

The theme of friendship runs through all of the Winnie the Pooh stories.A good example is this quote: “We’ll be friends forever won’t we?” asked Piglet.”Even longer”said Pooh. These two characters have a deep friendship which they cherish and it comes up throughout the stories.

Piglet has a friendship with Pooh and he wants to tell him so in the strongest way he can  “If you live to be a hundred,I want to live to be a hundred and one so I won’t have to live a day without you”. Friendship doesn’t come much stronger than that.Another example is when Pooh  says :”If there ever comes a time when we can’t be together, hold me in your heart I’ll stay there forever”.

The sense of childhood innocence and wonder is spread throughout the Winnie the Pooh books and illustrations. Piglet and Pooh are wandering in the forest in 100 Acre Wood when Piglet turns to Pooh and poses the question to his great friend :”How do you spell love?” .”You don’t spell it..You feel it”  replied Pooh. A.A.Milne stresses that looking after your friends and loved ones is what really matters.

Pooh’s friendship with Christopher Robin is a special one. Pooh tells Christopher Robin that: “Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart”. This is a beautiful sentiment especially if there is a new arrival coming into your world.

Being a happy bear, Pooh is a great believer in self esteem and he encourages Piglet to stand up for himself : “Promise me that you will always remember that you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think”. Pooh tries endearingly to understand just what is meant by the word love by telling Christopher Robin that “Some people care too much. I think it’s called love”.

Winnie the Pooh quotes are meaningful, thoughtful and still relevant to us today.
